Title: Ambassador Class Heavy Cruiser

Sub: The Volvo of Starfleet

The word "volvo" isn't Swedish. In Latin, volvo means "I roll."

What the heck is this page for? For over 6 years, I have been trying to locate images of the Ambassador Class Heavy Cruiser. Starting a Star Trek fan club at the time, we had chosen to make our ship the same class as the Enterprise NCC-1701-C. 6 years later, my collection of ambassador class images has reached 88 different images. (There were originally more than 400.. MURDER to sort!) Most have come off the Internet, and alas credit for the images is long lost. A few are scans from various books or collector's cards.. and I have included them here, in an effort to offer as complete a resource as possibe. For scale modelers, 3d designers, and artists, this resource is provided for you, at no cost or profit. If you have any more images I missed, or if you know the originator of any of the images here.. Send me Email!

The images below are only thumbnails. Click each thumbnail to view the full size image. Sorry about the pop-up windows, it was a tactical decision to avoid viewers having to load and reload the thumbnails over and over. However, "save this link as" will still work normally.

Non-canon plan-drawings
Some are close, some are very realistic and beleivable. None are officially recognized by Paramount.

Fan created 3-D renders
Some are close, a couple are almost perfect. Most seem to have been based on some of the non-cacon plan-drawings.

Studio model
My fondest wish was granted when I happened upon these. Photographs of the genuine article, built by my god, Greg Jein. Close-ups, long shots, detail and form.. all illustrated here very nicely. These are of the "later" version of the Ambassador Class, note the "fishy tail thingy" under the shuttlebay, and the shrouds on the bussard collectors

Yamaguchi vs Enterprise-C
30 years later, what's changed in the Ambassador Class? These 2 images were created to assist in updating the available resin kits to the more modern form of the ship.
